"Today you are you, that's truer than true. There's no one alive that's you'er than you"

This is one of my favorite quotes, and it was written by Dr Seuss. Often regarded as a mere childrens author, I find him one of the most inventive yet simplistic poets which I have ever read. Recently, I have begun to think on how difficult it is for most people being teenagers and if I were to offer myself advice, it could not be better phrased than this. May I offer you, whoever you are, this very same advise. It is important to keep all things in sight at all times, and one of the most important things is to keep who you are in sight. Situations which many people find themselves in often compel them to act as they would not usually, however this need not be the case. Throughout the teenage years, we often feel the effects that peer pressure have and often succumb to it without realizing. But when we are faced in a dilemma, it is based just to think on this: What would I do in this situation? What would I really do if I had time to think on it? Dr Seuss (though only his pen name of course, with a name like that) says that there is no one alive who is you'er than you. I reckon he is 100% right. You are the only person who can affect what you do, and nobody else can make you change your opinions, they are entirely up to you. Please just remember this too, keep that in mind, if only for a week. Perhaps you should also make this a New Years Resolution. I myself do not have one but if I did, this would be on the list. I hope that you had an agreeable New Year and entered 2012 with the best ideas for the future ahead! Good luck to everyone and I hope 2012 will be a spectacular year for all.

Christmas Is Everywhere

Hello fellow bloggers, this is my first blog. I know this will be a common theme at this time, but Christmas is less than a week away! I met up with my friends yesterday and we all got each other presents as a Secret Santa. For those who don't know about this tending to be teenage tradition, we all draw names from a hat and then give the person we get presents. Turns out in a small group of 5 it is quite easy to get each other, and that is what me and my friend accidently did :D I got her a present and she got me one, and I loved it!
As you can see, it comprises mostly of edible treats. The original 'Jelly Belly' sweets with a variety and new flavours. The ones on the left (tee hee hee, I ate three of them. But they looked so gorgeous, how could I not?!) are Christmas Messes from the Hotel Chocolat. It is basically designer chocolate. I know, sounds amazing and believe me, it tastes it! The description reads 'fruity berry mousse with crispy crushed meringue-a classic desert with a festive touch'. Mmmmmm...I may have to go and eat the rest of them. Ooops, all gone! She also gave me a red bracelet. Just so you know, red is my favourite colour, also evident from my blog name. Anyway, I am now on my winter holidays, but no sign of snow yet; it is too warm where I live.
However the best thing about Christmas in my opinion is the warmth which it brings. Not just in a gooey, lovey dovey way, but in the way where you can sit my the fire drinking hot chocolate wearing fluffy socks when it is all cold outside. That is my favourite part of winter. And the songs too...and the Christmas specials and movies if everything. Oh, I guess I love every part of the holidays and the general cheer it brings round
>_<
But back to the songs, they are so happy. In a friendly argument on cheerful Christmas songs with someone I know, I took a quick poll of the people sitting nearby me at the time and most people find them happy songs which they enjoy. So, here are my favourites:
Do They Know It's Christmas?-Band Aid/Live Aid
Merry Christmas Everybody-Slade
I Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday-Wizzard
Santa Baby-Marilyn Monroe
Fairytale Of New York-The Pogues and Kirsty McColl
All I Want for Christmas Is You-Mariah Carey
If you don't know any of these songs please have a listen because I think all of them are beautiful in their own way. I hope this year Santa brings some presents, but more importantly you are happy as we enter the New Year, 2012. It's going to be a great year, make sure you tune into us hosting the Olympics. I'll write soon, and in the words of Judy Garland/Frank Sinatra/Ella Fitzgerald and many others:
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Now
